China reports no new SARS case for past 24 hours

    BEIJING, April 24 (Xinhuanet) -- China's Health Ministry said hereSaturday that no new diagnosed or suspected SARS case was reportedon the Chinese mainland during the past 24 hours from 10 a.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday.

    On Friday the ministry reported two diagnosed and two suspectedSARS cases in east Anhui Province and Beijing. The suspected SARS patient in Anhui died on April 19.

    The ministry said the 20-year-old diagnosed Beijing patient Surnamed Li is in stable condition now and has had a normal body temperature for eight days. Except the five persons who had developed fever and been put under medical observation in Beijing Ditan Hospital, no people in close contact with her have showed abnormal symptoms so far.

    Beijing's suspected SARS patient, the 31-year-old post-doctoralresearcher surnamed Yang, is also in stable condition now, the ministry said, adding that nobody in close contact with him has developed fever so far.

    The health ministry said the 26-year-old Anhui SARS patient Song has resumed a normal temperature and is recovering. The threepeople, who had developed fever after having close contact with her, have resumed normal body temperature and others showed no abnormal symptoms.

    Meanwhile, the ministry said since Song and Yang used to work in the same laboratory of the institute of virus diseases under the Chinese Center for Diseases Control and Prevention (CDC) in Beijing, the Beijing local government has sealed the institute andput it under isolation starting from April 23 through May 7.
