BAGHDAD, April 23 (Xinhuanet) -- A US soldier was killed in a roadside bomb explosion north of Baghdad on Friday, the US military said.

    The soldier from the 1st Infantry Division died when his convoy was attacked by the bomb near the Sunni Muslim town of Samarra, 100km north of Baghdad, the military said in a statement.

    The death put the number of US soldiers killed in action in Iraq to more than 510 since US-led invasion in March last year. Enditem
