UNITED NATIONS, April 21 (Xinhuanet) -- Russia vetoed on Wednesdaya draft resolution of the United Nations Security Council backing the UN plan to reunite Cyprus.

    The other 14 council members voted for the draft, which would have authorized the creation of a new UN peacekeeping mission for Cyprus.

    The Russian representative said the council should not take action on the draft before the Saturday referenda in Cyprus on theunity plan. Enditem
