Mbeki declares overwhelming victory

    PRETORIA, April 16 (Xinhuanet) -- South African President Thabo Mbeki declared Friday that his ruling African National Congress has won "overwhelming" victory in the third non-racial elections held across the country on April 14.

    The 62-year-old president said that his government will do whatever it has promised to the nation and the people in the election campaigns. Enditem
