PARIS, April 15 (Xinhuanet) -- French Foreign Ministry spokesman Herve Ladsous said Thursday that France has no comment to make concerning the latest message attributed to Osama bin Laden, leader of terrorist network al Qaeda.
Dubai-based Al-Arabiya television reported Thursday an audio tape attributed to Osama bin Laden, who justifies in the tape the March 11 Madrid attacks leaving 191 dead, without however openly claiming the responsibility.
The voice also offered peace to European countries that will pull their troops out of the Muslim countries.
Most European leaders lashed out at the truce offer of bin Laden, prime suspect of the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks on the United States, and ruled out any negotiations with him.
European Commission President Romano Prodi, who is in China on a visit, rejected the offer, saying there would be no negotiation under a "terrorist threat."
Likewise, Britain ruled out any deal with Osama bin Laden and his al Qaeda network.
Spain's incoming foreign minister, Miguel Angel Moratinos, asked Spaniards to ignore the taped message. Italy and Germany also rejected the purported bin Laden peace offer. Enditem |
