Urgent: Chinese diplomat confirms Chinese kidnapped in Iraq released

    BAGHDAD, April 12 (Xinhuanet) -- The seven Chinese kidnapped in Iraq on Sunday morning has been released on Monday, a top Chinese diplomat in Iraq confirmed.

    Sun Bigan, head of the team responsible for the re-establishment of the Chinese Embassy in Baghdad, told Xinhua that the Chinese were safe now.

    Earlier, Chen Xianzhong, a merchant working in Baghdad, told Xinhua that the seven were now being taken care by the Associationof Islamic Clerics at a "secret place."

    The seven Chinese workers were abducted on Sunday morning when they traveled to Baghdad via Jordan. Enditem
