JAKARTA, April 6 (Xinhuanet) -- Indonesian President Megawati Soekarnoputri-led Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) is still leading by a minor margin up to earlier Tuesday in the provisional results of the nationwide legislative election held on Monday.

According to provisional vote tally from the General Election Committee (KPU) up to 7:00 (local time of Jakarta), the PDI-P won 75,345 votes, some 19.7 percent of 382,440 votes that so far have been counted.

It was followed closely by the National Awakening Party (PKB) with 69,094 votes and the Golkar Party with 59,034 votes. The newly-formed Democratic Party grabbed 42,853 votes and the PK Sejahtera (PKS) with 35,381 votes.

The PDI-P which is seen as a nationalist party with Megawati asits chairwoman, won 33.7 percent of votes in the previous election, becoming the largest political party in the parliament.

The PKB is a moderate Muslim party founded by the former president Abdurrahman Wahid. In 1999 election, the PKB won 12.6 percent of votes, ranking the fourth largest party in the parliament.

The Democratic Party was founded in 2002 by Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, the former coordinating minister for politics and security in the Megawati government.

The Golkar, the second largest party in 1999 election after winning 22.4 percent of votes, helped the 32-year military rule before Soeharto was ousted in May 1998.

However, the ranking could be shifted at any time since so far only small part of votes have been counted. Enditem
