The PKB is a moderate Muslim party founded by the
former president Abdurrahman Wahid. In 1999 election, the PKB won 12.6 percent
of votes, ranking the fourth largest party in the parliament.
The Democratic Party was founded in 2002 by Susilo
Bambang Yudhoyono, the former coordinating minister for politics and security in
the Megawati government.
The Golkar, the second largest party in 1999 election
after winning 22.4 percent of votes, helped the 32-year military rule before
Soeharto was ousted in May 1998.
However, the ranking could be shifted at any time
since so far only small part of votes have been counted. Enditem
