Suspected terrorists with explosive material detained in Kabul

¡¡KABUL, April 4 (Xinhuanet) -- The NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in its efforts to boost security in the Afghan capital helped local police detain three suspected terrorists last week, ISAF's spokesman said here Sunday.

"Afghanistan's National Directorate for Security with support from ISAF personnel conducted a raid in Kabul last Wednesday that resulted in the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of explosive materials," Chris Henderson told reporters at a news briefing.

The explosive material was an unspecified quantity of weapons, explosive device and detonators, he said.

Expressing his ignorance about the affiliation of the suspectedterrorists, the spokesman said, "Afghan National Directorate for Security remains the lead to investigate them.".

It was the fourth time since early this year that ISAF, which is largely responsible to maintain peace in and around Kabul, had been assisting Afghan law enforcing agencies in nabbing terror suspects.

In its previous operations, ISAF troops apprehended suspected saboteurs affiliated with renegade warlord Gulbudin Hekmatyar and handed them over to Kabul police for investigations.

Personnel of ISAF in a related incident Saturday afternoon discovered two suspicious objects along Jalalabad road east of theKabul city and destroyed them. Enditem
