BEIJING, April 1 (Xinhuanet) -- China plans to test a new population control policy, by paying at least 600 yuan (about 72 US dollars) in extra bonus to rural families who have faithfully followed the One Child policy, said State Councilor Hua Jianmin Thursday.
The central government will select one city from 14 western andcentral provinces and municipalities for the experiment. While developed areas are encouraged to try the new policy at their own cost, according to Hua.
Hua, who is also secretary-general of the State Council, said at a national conference on the work, that the new policy will help guide villagers to follow the family planning policy.
He called for more supervision to ensure fairness, justice and openness in carrying out the new policy. Enditem
