KATHMANDU, April 1 (Xinhuanet) -- Five major political parties in Nepal organized a massive protest rally in the capital Kathmandu Thursday chanting anti-monarchy slogans and demanding the formation of an all party government.
Over 50,000 party workers participated in the demonstration around Ratna Park near the royal palace, which started from Thursday noon and said to be running into the evening.
A large number of police and army personnel barricaded the areaand security was beefed up near the royal palace.
However, the demonstration is peaceful. The security forces didnot intervene and even did not use water canon, which have been brought to the site.
The political parties claimed this is the largest demonstration held in Nepal since 1990. Enditem
