UNITED NATIONS, March 19 (Xinhuanet) -- UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan said here Friday that the alleged corruption in the oil-for-food program might be true.
"It is highly possible that there have been quite a lot of wrong-doings," Annan told reporters at the UN headquarters in New York.
He said the UN Office of Internal Oversight Service (OIOS), theworld body's indoor watchdog, had been called to look into the alleged corruption.
Reports reaching here said that the General Accounting Office of the United States has put the level of corruption in the oil-for-food program at 10 billion US dollars. Enditem
