Urgent: gas explosion kills at least three miners in NW China

    URUMQI, March 19 (XinhuaÍø) -- At least three miners were killed and another three missing in a gas explosion which occurred Friday night in a coal mine in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

    The blast happened at around 19:15 Friday night when eight miners were working in the coal mine of the coal refinery run by the No. 104 regiment of Xinjiang construction corps No. 12 division, said the regiment head Zhao Yuxin.

    Two miners managed to escape from the explosion, according to Zhao.

    The cause of the accident is under investigation. The rescue work is under way. Enditem
