MADRID, March 14 (Xinhuanet) -- The opposition Socialist Party (PSOE) declared Sunday it had won the Spanish general elections clouded by the train bombings that hit the capital Madrid on Thursday.

Jose Blanco, the party's campaign chief, declared that "according to the available data, the Socialist Party has won the general elections. It is a clear victory."

Blanco's statement was made with 79 percent of the votes counted. His party won 164 seats in the 350-member parliament, up from 125. The conservative ruling Popular Party (PP) fell from the absolute majority 183 to 147. Enditem
