UN Council approves deployment of peacekeepers in Cote d'Ivoire

    UNITED NATIONS, Feb. 27 (Xinhuanet) -- The United Nations Security Council approved Friday the deployment of a 6,590-strong peacekeeping mission in the West African nation of Cote d'Ivoire.

    The mission, comprising 6,240 military personnel, 350 civilian police and a civilian component, has an initial mandate of 12 months. Enditem
