WASHINGTON, Feb. 10 (Xinhuanet) -- US Democratic presidential front-runner John Kerry scored an easy victory in Virginia primary and was favored to win in Tennessee on Tuesday in a fierce battle in the South where his rivals have pinned their hopes.

Early results showed Kerry, a senator from Massachusetts, won more than half of the votes in Virginia, with John Edwards of North Carolina a distant second and retired general Wesley Clark of Arkansas a third.

Polls in Tennessee will close at 8 p.m. EST (0100 GMT) on Wednesday.

Kerry has won 11 of 13 primaries or caucuses since late January, consolidating his commanding lead in the field for Democratic presidential nomination. Enditem
