BERLIN, Feb. 8 (Xinhuanet) -- The German government
sticks to its objection to a possible deployment of NATO troops in Iraq, said
Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer at the international security conference in
Munich on Sunday.

deployment and will not send any troops to Iraq. However, he stressed that
Berlin will not blockade any possible NATO deployment.
NATO Secretary-General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer
canvassed for an engagement in Iraq. "The alliance should not shun the
responsibility," he said.
The prerequisite for a NATO mission in Iraq would be
the request of a legitimated Iraqi government, said de Hoop Scheffer. Enditem
