Jordanian king calls for international support for Mideast peace
www.chinaview.cn 2004-02-09 01:31:51

Munich, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- Jordanian King Abdullah II on Sundaycalled on the international community to support the countries in the Middle East to solve their conflict.

The Middle East countries are on the "front line" of fighting terrorism and the conflict between Israelis and Palestinians remains the core challenge to the stability and peace of the region as well as to the world, the king said at the Munich Conference on Security Policy.

The governments in the region will not be able to carry out reform as the West require and give hope to their people unless the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is solved, he said.

He said the century-old conflict in the Middle East is difficult for the countries and the United States alone to solve, and help from other quarters of the world will be required.

The annual Munich Conference on Security Policy is one of the most important forum on the international security issues and attracted hundreds of delegates from 45 countries this year. Enditem
