Urgent: Turkish Cypriot leader sayd to join New York talks

    NICOSIA, Feb. 6 (Xinhuanet) -- Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash said Friday that, he would attend peace talks in New York with UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, but only to set out his objections to a renewed rush for reunification.

    "We are going to reply in writing to the secretary general today or tomorrow. If the news coming from Turkey is positive, we'll probably leave for New York on Sunday," Denktash told reporters on his return to the island from talks in Ankara. Enditem
