PANAMA CITY, Feb. 4 (Xinhuanet) -- An earthquake measuring 5 on the Richter scale shook several regions in Panama, leaving four injured and causing panic in the western part of the country, authorities said.

The quake took place at 06:59 a.m. (1159 GMT) with its epicenter 385 kilometers west of Panama City, near the border with Costa Rica.

The morning trembler was followed by a moderate quake measuring 4 on the Richter scale Tuesday night, but no injuries or damages were reported, sources said, noting that the quake caused fear among the inhabitants of the western province of Bocas de Toro.

On Dec. 25, another earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale shook the border region between Panama and Costa Rica, leaving one baby dead, and more than 80 wounded in both countries.Enditem
