US Senator Lieberman to quit Democratic presidential nomination race

    WASHINGTON, Feb. 3 (Xinhuanet) -- US Senator Joe Lieberman of Connecticut would withdraw from the US Democratic presidential nomination race Tuesday night after poor finishes in the primariesor caucuses held in seven states earlier in the day, US networks said.

    Exit polls showed that Lieberman, Democratic candidate for vice president in 2000, had no chance of winning any of the seven contests. In January, he skipped the Iowa caucuses to focus on theprimary in New Hampshire, but only to get a distant fifth finish there. Enditem
