BERLIN, Feb. 2 (Xinhuanet) -- The German woman previously suspected of being infected with bird flu is unlikely to have caught the virus, the hospital in which she was treated said Monday.

    Initial medical examination has not confirmed the virus, said Bernhard Fleischer, director of the Bernhard-Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine in Hamburg.

    "We cannot rule it out completely but it doesn't look like birdflu," he said.

    "It's unnecessary to be nervous," he added.

    Doctors treating the woman said she was in stable situation.

    The final results of the test for possible bird flu are expected to be out on Tuesday.

    The German woman who was back from Thailand was found to have bird flue-like symptoms and took to the Hamburg institute for medical examination. Another woman who accompanied her was also sent to the hospital.

    "If you are back from Asia and have fever, it could be a lot ofthings. But this case doesn't seem to be bird flu," said Fleischer.

    The Robert-Koch Institute in Berlin that is in charge of disease control also said a bird flu case in Germany is "very unlikely," but "not impossible." Enditem
