Vietnam reports larger number of flu type A patients

    HANOI, Jan. 26 (Xinhuanet) -- A total of 46 people, mostly children, have been hospitalized in Vietnam due to flu type A infections.

    The figure was reported by Jan. 25, compared to just 30 by Jan.19, according to local newspaper Youth on Monday.

    The National Hospital of Pediatrics in the capital of Hanoi alone has received 28 patients, of whom 14 have died of flu type A.It has discharged one and continued treating 13, including a childbeing in critical conditions.

    To date, seven flu type A patients in Vietnam have been confirmed to be infected with H5N1, the virus found in poultry.

    Therefore, the country's Ministry of Health has urged bird flu-hit localities to comprehensively disinfect affected areas by chloramine B, and closely monitor the situation to early detect new infections.

    Flu type A infections have been reported in 10 cities and provinces, while bird flu has spread to 24 localities, infecting over 3.2 fowls in Vietnam. Enditem
