BEIJING, Jan. 13 (Xinhuanet) -- China will strive to enhance its cooperation and exchanges with Sweden on prosecution practice and prosecutors training and accelerate the reform of the prosecution system, said its chief procurator here Tuesday.

Jia Chunwang, procurator-general of China's Supreme People's Procuratorate, made the remarks while meeting with Swedish JusticeMinister Thomas Bodstrom.

China and Sweden share a long-term cooperation in legislation and prosecution training, Jia said, noting that more than 200 Chinese procurators have been trained in Sweden since 1996, when abilateral training program was launched.

The two countries' prosecution departments also worked in closecooperation to protect human rights and improve efficiency, Jia said.

The top Chinese procurator noted that China is reforming its prosecution system, with approximately 220,000 officials and 3,600prosecution organs nationwide, to improve social fairness and justice.

Bodstrom said that China has undergone tremendous changes in its judicial field since the country's reform started about two decades ago. Enditem
