BERLIN, Jan. 5 (Xinhuanet) -- German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder and US President George W. Bush will probably meet at the end of February, a German official said Monday.
Schroeder will open a German art show "Splendor of baroque Dresden" on February 27 in Jackson, Mississippi, to which Bush is also invited, said Thomas Steg, deputy spokesman for the German Chancellery.
The German side believes that a meeting between the two leaders will take place, but is unsure whether it is held in Jackson or Washington, Steg said.
Schroeder last visited Washington in January 31, 2002. Due to their differences on the Iraqi issue, the German chancellor has since then never been invited to visit Washington or presidential retreats such as Bush's ranch in Texas. Enditem |
