LONDON, Jan. 5 (Xinhuanet) -- A letter bomb addressed to a British member of the European Parliament burst into flames Monday at his office in Manchester, northwestern port city in England.
The device, sent from Italy, exploded at the Greater Manchester constituency office of Gary Titley, the leader of the European Parliamentary Labor Party, according to a Sky News report.
No one was injured in the attack, which is the third confirmed parcel bomb aimed at Euro-legislators and the first known to have been sent to Britain, said the report.
A number of suspected letter bombs were delivered to the European Parliament in Brussels on Monday.
One device, concealed in a book in a brown envelope, exploded when it was opened by a secretary working for Hans-Gert Poettering,of the Center-Right European People's Party.
No one was hurt in the incident, which occurred shortly after parliament staff resumed work following a two-week break.
