US soldier killed in bomb blast in Iraq

   BAGHDAD, Dec. 13 (Xinhuanet) -- A US soldier was killed in a bomb attack on a US military convoy near Iraq's restive town of Ramadi,the US military said on Saturday.

   Three soldiers were wounded when their convoy struck animprovised explosive device near Ramadi, 100 km west of Baghdad, on Friday morning, and one of them died of wounds later in hospital, said the military in a statement.

   The bomb attack followed a suicide car bombing at a military base near Ramadi on Thursday which killed one US soldier and wounded 14 others.

   Since US President George W. Bush declared the major fighting over on May 1, 197 US soldiers have been killed by hostile fire in Iraq.  Enditem
