BAGHDAD, Dec. 9 (Xinhuanet) -- Three Iraqis were killed and at least two others wounded Tuesday when a suspected rocket exploded in a Sunni mosque in central Baghdad, witnesses and Iraqi police said.

The rocket-propell ed grenade hit the mosque in the Hurriya district at around 6:45 a.m. (0345 GMT) and exploded in the courtyard, badly damaging the building.

Police officers said three people were killed and two others wounded, while witnesses said there were many more casualties.

It was not clear if the mosque was the target of the attack, which followed a suicide car bombing at a US military base near the northern city of Mosul, wounding about 31 soldiers. Enditem
