MOSCOW, Dec. 5 (Xinhuanet) -- At least 25 people were killed and more than 60 others injured Friday in a suicide bomb explosion which ripped through a commuter train in southern Russia, the Russian Em ergency Situations Ministry said.
The blast took place in the station of Kislovodsk,
near the war-wracked region of Chechnya, around 8 a.m. (0500 GMT) and destroyed
the second car of the train.
A bomb, which was placed beneath or in the second
car, was detonated by an unidentified woman, Itar-Tass quoted the Interior
Ministry as saying.
Aid teams and rescue workers from Kislovodsk and
Stavropol were working at the scene, trying to pull the victims out of the
wreckage.
The train was heading for Mineralnye Vody from
Kislovodsk. The explosion occurred just as the train pulled out of the station
of Kislovodsk.
In recent months, Russia has been hit by a series of
bombings and suicide attacks. The government usually blames the attacks on
rebels from Chechnya. Enditem |
