BAGHDAD, Nov. 30 (Xinhuanet) -- Two US soldiers were killed and another was wounded in an ambush in western Iraq on Saturday, the US military said in a statement on Sunday.
The task force from the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment was travelling in a convoy when guerillas fired a rocket-propelled grenade on it, said the statement.
The attack took place east of Husaybah, about 300 km west of Baghdad, in the volatile area bordering Syria, it added. At least 187 US soldiers have been killed by hostile fire in Iraq since US President George W. Bush declared the major fighting over on May 1.
Around 80 US soldiers died in November alone, making it the deadliest month for the US army since it launched the war in March. Enditem
