MOSCOW, Nov. 27 (Xinhuanet) -- Georgia will draw up a detailed plan for entering the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Zurab Zhvaniya, the new state minister of Georgia's interim government, said Thursday.
Zhvaniya said in a TV interview in Tbilisi, capital of Georgia,that the interim government is eager to invite United States experts to help work out the plan, Moscow's Itar-Tass reported.
He added that Georgia now has a "historic opportunity" to prepare for accession to the European Union and that the United States is ready to provide important and positive assistance.
Zhvaniya, an opposition leader against former President Eduard Shevardnadze, was approved by the parliament in a 140-0 vote Thursday as the state minister, thus becoming the second highest-ranking official in the country. Enditem |
