LUANDA, Nov. 21 (Xinhuneta) -- An accord formally pardoning the remainder of Angolan debt to Poland as arranged during the recent visit of President Jose Eduardo dos Santos to the European countrywas signed Friday in Luanda.
The accord was signed by Angolan Finance Minister Jose Pedro deMorais and Poland Deputy Finance Minister Ryszard Michalski.
The two officials signed in September this year in Warsaw a general protocol of principles, under which Poland offered to pardon 60 percent of the total debt of Angola, estimated at 153 million US dollars.
The debt was contracted in the 1980's with the supply of several machinery, naval and logistic equipment for the Angolan Armed Forces.
Under the accord, the remainder 40 percent of the debt, equivalent to 61 million US dollars will be rescheduled as from the year 2006.
The minute of talks between the governments of Angola and Poland has already been ratified, with a protocol enabling the re-launch of cooperation between the two countries.
On the fringes of the signing, Michalski stressed that the agreement will boost the development of economic relations betweenthe two states.
He stated as well that the accord also paves the way for Polandbusiness people to invest in Angola and enjoy welcoming treatment.
Poland is interested in investing in Angola in the sectors of fisheries, oil, supply of material and naval equipment, telecommunication and mining industry.
