BAGHDAD, Nov. 13 (Xinhuanet) -- A US soldier was killed and another wounded in a bomb attack in Iraq's capital city of Baghdad, US military said on Thursday.
The soldiers from the 1st Armored Division came under attack when their vehicle struck an improvised explosive device (IED) on Wednesday, said a US spokesman.
Two soldiers were wounded initially and one died later in the hospital, he said.
The death brings to 156 the number of US soldiers killed by hostile fire in Iraq since US President George W. Bush declared themajor combat over on May 1.
The 1st Armored Division patrolling in Baghdad was undergoing heavy casualties almost everyday recently due to the roadside bombs planted around the city by anti-US fighters.
On Tuesday afternoon, two US soldiers were wounded in an IED attack in Baghdad and one of them was pronounced dead in the hospital five hours later. Enditem |
