LOS ANGELES, Nov. 11 (Xinhuanet) -- Hollywood actor Christian Slater received stitches for a cut to his head after being hit by a drinking glass thrown by his wife Ryan Haddon during an argument in their hotel room in Las Vegas, police said Tuesday.

Initial reports said Slater, who starred in "Broken Arrow" and "Windtalks," received 20 stitches, but his spokeswoman Kelly Bushsaid he actually received nine stitches after the scuffle Monday at the Hard Rock hotel-casino. Slater, 34, was treated at Desert Springs Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Haddon, a TV producer, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery but Slater declined to press charges, according to Carla Alston, a spokesman for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. She was reportedly released without bail late Monday, after a mandatory 12-hour detention.

Reports said that Slater initially told the police that he was hit at the back of head by the drinking glass thrown by his wife during an argument, but he changed his story when he realized that his wife could be jailed. But the police rejected his late account of the incident.

Slater had a number of his own brushes with the law in the past. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail in 1998 for slugging his then girlfriend and biting a security officer in a drug-and-alcohol fueled brawl.

The actor was arrested at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport in 1994 when an unloaded pistol was found inhis luggage. And in 1989, he was convicted of drunken driving after crashing his car into a telephone pole. Enditem
