MOSCOW, Nov. 10 (Xinhuanet) -- A senior Iranian official informed Russia that Iran is suspending the uranium enrichment program from Monday on and is also sending a letter to the UN nuclear watchdog to convey its consent to sign the additional protocol.

"In order to enhance our credibility, we have made a decision to sign a supplementary agreement," said visiting Iranian Supreme National Security Council Secretary Hassan Rowhani at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday.

He also declared that as of Monday, Iran is suspending the enrichment of uranium.

Iran will "open all its previous activities before the world community," said Rowhani, stressing that Iran has answered all the questions put forward by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

The Iranian official said his country has made a decision to "eliminate all concerns and fears and carry out all of its future nuclear programs within the framework of international rules and regulations."

"Iran by no means seeks to acquire nuclear capability. Nuclear arms play no role in our defense doctrine," Rowhani was quoted by Itar-Tass news agency as saying. Enditem
