BAGHDAD, Nov. 8 (Xinhuanet) -- Two US soldiers were killed on Saturday when their convoy came under a bomb attack in Fallujah, a restive town west of Baghdad, the US military said.
Another soldier was injured in the attack, which took place at 8:30 a.m. (0530 GMT) in Fallujah, 50 km west of Baghdad, said a military spokeswoman.
Earlier, local residents in the town said they saw a rocket-propelled grenade was fired on the convoy and hit one of the tanks.
The latest toll brings to 151 the number of US soldiers killed by hostile fire in Iraq since US President George W. Bush declared the major campaign over on May 1.
US officials believe the anti-US attacks were getting more sophisticated and accurate after a initial period of six months during which the US forces only suffered a low-level fatality.
In last week alone, 29 US soldiers were confirmed killed by hostile fire. Enditem |
