BAGHDAD, Nov. 4 (Xinhuanet) -- Four people were injured after threeexplosions occurred in central Baghdad late Tuesday, the US-ledcoalition confirmed.
The wounded persons were evacuated to hospital and the incident was under investigation, a coalition spokesman told Xinhua. But he could not identify the nationalities of the victims or give any further information about them.
The weapons used in the attacks were unknown, he added.Local res idents said they heard at least two explosions around 7:45 p.m. (0445 GMT) in the direction of the coalition compound onthe western side of the Tigris River.
Iraqi guards at the scene said one of the projectiles hit thecompound, where a cloud of smoke was seen rising in the darkness.It was the second straight day that the so-called Green Zone, a heavily fortified compound stretching alongside the river, cameunder direct attack.
On Monday evening, the military said three mortar rounds landedin central Baghdad and one of them exploded in a military campinside the compound, causing no casualties.
On Oct. 28, when the first post-Saddam Hussein Ramadan started, a barrage of at least six rockets hit the Rashid Hotel standing atthe heart of the zone, killing one US colonel and wounding 15 others. Enditem
