BAGHDAD, Nov. 2 (Xinhuanet) -- Two US civilians were killed in a bomb attack in western Iraq on Sunday, bringing the US-led coalition's death toll in the single day to 18, the US military said.
The two American civilian contractors died in a roadside bomb attack on their convoy in Fallujah, a restive town 50 km west of Baghdad, said the military.
Also in Fallujah, 15 coalition soldiers were killed and 21 wounded when the US military transport helicopter they were on board was shot down by an unidentified weapon in the morning.
In a third incident, a soldier from the US 1st Armored Divisionwas killed on patrol when his vehicle hit a roadside bomb in Baghdad.
The latest toll was the heaviest in a day witnessed since US President George W. Bush declared the major conflict in Iraq over on May 1. Enditem |
