HONG KONG, Nov. 1 (Xinhuanet) -- China's first spaceman Yang Liwei has become a dominate figure on Hong Kong's major newspapers Saturday, stories of the hero of the Chinese nation not only occupied whole front-page of many newspapers, they are also read on several pages of a number of Chinese and English newspapers.
Ta Kung Pao banner headlined its front-page story "Yang Liwei Whirlwind Lands in Hong Kong" with big photos of the smiling hero in dark blue space training suit who waved a hand to the welcome crowds.
The Chinese-language newspaper said in its editorial Saturday that no doubt, Yang Liwei is the focus of Hong Kong these days. Yang is the representative of China's successful launching of the first manned spacecraft and people can see the rising of a new generation of Chinese elite from Yang Liwei.
The emotional article described Yang "looking healthy and speaking in appropriate terms, with honest and cordial attitude," It said Hong Kong residents are deeply impressed by China's first spaceman.
Wen Wei Daily banner headlined "Whole Hong Kong Warmly Welcomes Hero" with photos of Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa with the global premiere video tape of Yang's self-taken space tour in handand Yang's shaking hands with the welcoming Hong Kong residents outside the government's guest house.
The Wen Wei story described the warm welcome scene of at the garden of the Guest House. It took Yang much longer time for walking into the Guest House for a 100-meter path as he shook hands with as many as residents he could.
The Chinese language daily said,"He is not a star, but the welcome he received from Hong Kong residents exceed any stars. He is the super star supported by Hong Kong residents of different age groups and different walks of life."
In its leading front page story, the English edition of China Daily said that "Astronaut's achievement boosts young people's esteem in nation."
"Hong Kong is really beautiful" described by Yang Liwei when he was asked about his impression of Hong Kong, has become titles of Hong Kong Commercial Daily and other newspaper's front page stories.
"Hero thanks fans" is the title of the Standard's story. The English daily quoted Yang as saying "I am thankful to the care of Hong Kong people and their passion towards me."
The news channels of a number of Hong Kong television and radiostations gave live broadcast of the delegation's arrival at the Hong Kong international airport and the reception on Friday evening and the exhibition of China's first manned space mission inaugurated by Yang and the 26-member delegation on Saturday morning.
Hu Shixiang, head of the delegation of China's first manned space mission and vice director-general of China's manned space flight program said at Saturday's exhibition inauguration ceremonythat Yang was very calm during his 21-hour space tour even when hedid not know he could safely return to the Earth and his pulse never beat over 80 times, while his pulse beating was over 80 times because of Hong Kong people's warm welcome.

Over 40,000 Hong Kong residents will attend the gathering. Hong Kong residents had lined in queues for hours for obtaining the free-charge tickets.
It was reported that during the gathering, a pure gold model of China's first manned spacecraft "Shenzhou-5 will be presented to Yang, and middle school students will ask Yang questions they are interested in.
