BEIJING, Oct. 23 (Xinhuanet) -- Chinese top legislator Wu Bangguo will pay
an official goodwill visit to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK)
from Oct. 29 to 31.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue made the announcement at a
regular press conference here Thursday.
Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National
People's Congress and member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of
the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, was invited by the
DPRK Supreme People's Assembly Presidium and the DPRK Cabinet, Zhang said.
In response to a related question, Zhang said China and the DPRK are
friendly neighbors and enjoy a tradition of exchanging high-level visits among
leaders of the two countries. Wu's upcoming visit is to reciprocate the two
visits made by DPRK state delegations in 1999 and 2002.
During this important visit, the two sides will have a friendlyand in-depth
exchange of views on regional and international situations and other issues of
