TEHRAN, Oct. 22 (Xinhuanet) -- Iran will sign a draft of the nuclear
Non-Proliferation Treaty Additional Protocol next week, Iranian official sources
said Wednesday.
British Secretary Jack Straw, German Foreign Minister
Joschka Fischer and French Foreign Minister Dominique de Villepin arrived in
Tehran early Tuesday morning. They held a series of extensive talks with Iranian
officials on continued cooperation between the Islamic republic and the
International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
"The ministers, following extensive consultations, agreed on measures aimed
at the settlement of all outstanding IAEA issues with regards to the Iranian
nuclear program and enhancing confidence for peaceful cooperation in the nuclear
field," said a joint statement issued after the talks.
Iran on Tuesday agreed to prove to the international community that it is
not developing nuclear weapons, and promised to give "full cooperation" to the
IAEA for strict inspections of its nuclearsites.
The Iranian authorities also agreed to suspend uranium
enrichment, another demand made by the IAEA. Enditem |
