Bolivia's new president to hold referendum on gas

  LIMA. Oct. 17 (Xinhuanet) -- Bolivia's new President Carlos Mesa announced Friday he would hold a referendum on the sale of the country's natural gas, an issue that sparked an unrest which has left at least 86 people dead and the resignation of his predecessor.

  Carlos Mesa was sworn in on Friday after Gonzlo Sanchez de Lozada resigned amid unrest in the country, according to news reports reaching here. Enditem
