HONG KONG, Oct. 15 (Xinhuanet) -- The successful launch of China's first manned spacecraft Wednesday was greeted with great pride by people in Hong Kong and an exhibition on China's spaceflights held in the Hong Kong Space Museum attracted many exciting visitors.

"I felt very proud to see our motherland capable of sending astronaut into space," said Mr. Leung, a middle-aged Hong Kong man who attended the exhibition which opened today to provide the public a clear view about the development of China's spaceflights.

Wong Yiu-wah, assistant curator of the Hong Kong Space Museum, said Hong Kong people really showed great enthusiasm in the spaceflight and the museum had received many calls from public on information about the Shenzhou-V rocket recently.

He said today's exhibition has attracted more than 1,900 visitors in the first four hours since opening.

With the launch of Shenzhou-V rocket, China becomes the third country after the United States and the former Soviet Union who are capable of sending a man into space.

Wong said with excitement that it was really a historic step for China. "After this step, China can continue to make more progress on aerospace industry," he said.

Wong said the museum is also planning to invite China's first Taikonaunt to make a lecture on his space experience to the Hong Kong public. Enditem
