US soldier killed in northern Iraq

  BAGHDAD, Oct. 13 (Xinhuanet) -- A US soldier was killed and another wounded on Sunday when their military vehicle hit a landmine in northern Iraq, a US military spokesman said on Monday.

  Late on Sunday, their Bradley fighting vehicle struck a landmine planted near Baiji, 200 km north of Baghdad, Major GordonTate told reporters in the northern city of Tikrit.

  The blast wounded two soldiers, and one of them died later in hospital, he said.

  The latest death brings to the number of US soldiers killed in Iraq to 95 since US President George W. Bush declared the major combat over on May 1. Enditem
