LOS ANGELES, Oct. 10 (Xinhuanet) - Grocery clerk union leaders representing
more than 70,000 Southern California workers said Friday that they have ordered
a strike starting Saturday.
Their decision to go on strike came after workers overwhelmingly rejected a
contract offer by three supermarket chains: Ralphs, Albertsons and Vons.
Workers at Ralphs, Albertsons and Vons plane to start
picketingtheir stores in Los Angeles and other cities in southern California on
Saturday, thought management and union representatives are expected to meet with
a federal mediator latertoday to try to head off a walkout. Enditem |
