Urgent: UN council to hold open meeting on Israeli security wall

  UNITED NATIONS, Oct. 10 (Xinhuanet) -- The United Nations SecurityCouncil will hold a public meeting next Tuesday on Israel's building of a security fence deep inside the occupied Palestinian territory in West Bank, Council President John Negroponte told reporters Friday.

  The meeting was called at the request of Syria on behalf of Arab nations, US Ambassador Negroponte said.

  Syria on Thursday presented a draft resolution to the council, which would demand the Israeli government cease and reverse the construction of the security barrier. Enditem
