Han Wenxia replaces Zhao to keep China's goal against Russia
www.chinaview.cn 2003-09-29 10:04:51

PORTLAND, United States, Sept. 28 (Xinhuanet) -- Han Wenxia has been confirmed to replace Zhao Yan to stand between China's posts in their last Group D game against Russia here Sunday night.

Zhao, who played in China's first two World Cup games, made a mistake which let Australia score a goal.

The mistake proved costly. China were held 1-1 and had to wait for another three days to qualify for the last eight.

Zhang Ou'ying, who plays for San Diego Spirit, will also sit onthe bench. The cause for her absence looks strange because the right midfielder made the crucial assist for Bai Jie to score the equalizer.

Her place will be taken by the 19-year-old Bi Yan, China's youngest player.

Pu Wei, who had her right foot injured in the last game, has recovered and will start in the center of China's midfield.

  Lineup:

  Goalkeeper: Han Wenxia

Defenders: Liu Yali, Fan Yunjie, Li Jie, Wang Liping

Midfielders: Zhao Lihong, Bi Yan, Liu Ying, Pu Wei

Forwards: Sun Wen (c), Bai Jie Enditem
