Strong quake hits Russian Altaic area: Chinese seismologists

    BEIJING, Sept. 27 (Xinhuanet) -- A strong earthquake measuring 7.9 on the Richter scale struck the Altaic Nature Reserve in Russia, near the borderlines of China and Mongolia, at 7:33 p.m. Saturday (Beijing Time), according to a report by China's seismological monitoring network.

ĦĦĦĦThe epicenter was 80 kilometers from the Sino-Russian border and 230 kilometers from the Chinese city of Altay in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, according to the report. Enditem
