BEIJING, Sept. 23 (Xinhuanet) -- A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) highlighted the importance of the important thought of "Three Represents" Tuesday by calling it "Marxism for contemporary China".

"It is a fundamental guidance for the implementation of the CPC's work in the New Era and a powerful spiritual pillar for the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation," he stressed.

Li Changchun, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, was speaking at a meeting with a group of media leaders at the Party School of the CPC Central Committee, in Beijing.

These media officials are attending a training course on the study of "Three Represents" thought, which says the CPC must always represent the most advanced productivity and culture in China as well as the fundamental interests of the maximal majority of the Chinese people.

Li urged domestic media to adhere to the guidance of the important thought of the "Three Represents", in support of nationwide efforts to build the country into a well-off society.

He pledged to unswervingly strengthen and improve the Party's leadership in the media, to ensure that the leading power was in the hands of those who were loyal to the Party and the people.

The meeting was presided over by Liu Yunshan, head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee. Enditem
