KABUL, Sept. 16 (Xinhuanet) - Some 15 suspected Taliban was killedin the
Kandahar province in the past 24 hours, confirmed Colonel Rodney M. Davis, the
spokesman for the Bagram-based Coalition Headquarters on late Monday.
According to the spokesman, the Coalition ground forces in cooperation with
Afghan militia coordinated an engagement of a group of suspected Taliban forces
in the Kandahar province with coalition aircraft operating in support of
Operation Mountain Viper.
Fifteen Tliban personnel were killed by coalition aircraft in the past 24
hours, said Davis, the coalition continued Operation Mountain Viper to destroy
the Taliban's ability to operate in the southern region of Afghanistan.
There were no reported coalition casualties or damage to equipment, the
spokesman added.
The Operation Mountain Viper, launched by the US-led coalition forces,
jointed with the Afghan government and local militia, started on Aug.30.
The coalition sources said, up to now, more than 120 suspected Taliban
fighters have been killed in the operation with over 100 captives. Enditem
