KATHMANDU, Sept. 15 (Xinhuanet) -- At least four people died, 25 were injured and many others still missing Monday morning when a passenger bus fell into a river in western Nepal, the Radio Nepal reported.

Four persons died on the spot at 11 a.m. local time when the passenger bus skidded off the road and plunged into the Bheri river at Devsthal village of Salyan district, some 450 kilometers west of Kathmandu, the state-run radio quoted a local police officer as saying.

"Efforts are under way to take the 25 rescued passengers to Nepalgunj city for treatment," the officer said on condition of anonymity.

Some of the passengers are believed to have been swept away by the river, he said.

The bus fell into the river while giving way to a truck coming from the opposite direction, he noted, adding that the mishap is also caused by overloading as well as the bad road condition. Enditem
